Interface Overview
The Moderation View interface is organized into four main tabs, each providing specific moderation capabilities:
Tab Navigation
At the top of the interface, you’ll find tabs for switching between different moderation views:
- Live - Access to the live video feed (when Web Studio is enabled)
- Chat - Primary message moderation interface
- Polls - Poll management and voting visualization
- People - Participant management (registrations, talkback, teleconference)
Message State Filters (Chat Tab)
When on the Chat tab, you’ll see toggle switches that allow you to filter which message states are visible:
- Pending - Messages awaiting your approval
- Published - Approved messages visible to the audience
- Presenter - Messages sent only to the presenter
- Discarded - Deleted or rejected messages
- Private - Private moderator-only messages
You can enable multiple toggles simultaneously to view different message states in separate columns.
Moderating Chat Messages
The Chat tab is where you’ll spend most of your time during active moderation. Messages are organized into columns based on their state, making it easy to manage different workflows.
Understanding Message States
Pending Messages These are new questions or messages from the audience that haven’t been approved yet. They’re not visible to other attendees until you take action.
Actions available:
- Approve/Publish - Make the message visible to all attendees
- Send to Presenter - Send the message only to the presenter (if applicable)
- Discard - Reject the message (it won’t be published)
- Reply - Add a moderator response (can be public or private)
Published Messages These are messages that have been approved and are visible to your audience on the event page.
Actions available:
- Pin - Keep the message visible at the bottom of the chat for emphasis
- Highlight - Draw attention to the message with special styling
- Delete - Remove the message from public view (moves to Discarded)
- Reply - Add additional moderator responses
Presenter Messages Messages sent directly to the presenter, visible only to them and moderators.
Actions available:
- Pin - Keep the message visible for the presenter
- Highlight - Emphasize the message to the presenter
- Delete - Remove the message
- Reply - Add moderator responses
Private Messages Internal messages visible only to moderators on your team. Use these for coordination and notes.
Actions available:
- Delete - Remove the private message
- Reply - Add moderator-only responses
Discarded Messages Previously rejected or deleted messages. This column is view-only and helps you keep track of what content has been removed.
Working with Replies
Messages can have replies, and you have full control over the reply workflow:
- Click on a message to expand and view existing replies
- Messages with pending replies show a “Pending Replies” indicator
- You can approve, publish, or delete individual replies
- When replying as a moderator, you can choose whether your reply is public or private
- Reply behavior adapts based on the parent message state
Tips for Effective Chat Moderation
- Keep Pending Clear - Regularly review and action pending messages to ensure audience questions don’t go unnoticed
- Use Pin Wisely - Pin important or frequently asked questions to keep them visible
- Highlight Key Content - Use highlighting to draw attention to messages that deserve special focus
- Send to Presenter - For technical questions or speaker-specific queries, use “Send to Presenter” to avoid cluttering the public chat
- Use Private Messages - Coordinate with other moderators using private messages when needed
Managing Polls
The Polls tab gives you control over event polls and lets you see real-time voting results.
What you can do:
- View all active polls for your event
- Monitor real-time vote counts as they come in
- Manage poll status and visibility
- See poll results visualization
This is particularly useful during live events to gauge audience sentiment and engagement.
Managing Participants (People Tab)
The People tab shows you who’s participating in your event and provides tools for managing their access:
What you’ll see:
- Registered participants
- Talkback-enabled participants
- TurboBridge teleconference attendees
Available actions:
- View participant details
- Manage talkback permissions
- Drop callers from teleconference when needed
Live Video Tab
When Web Studio is enabled for your event, the Live tab provides access to the live video feed. This appears as a floating window in the top-left corner of the interface, allowing you to monitor the stream while moderating other aspects of your event.
You can toggle the video display on/off as needed to optimize your screen space.
Multi-Moderator Coordination
Moderation View supports multiple moderators working on the same event simultaneously:
- Real-Time Updates - All moderators see message state changes instantly
- Moderator Attribution - Each message shows which moderator is currently handling it
- Set Your Name - When you first open Moderation View, you can set your moderator username for easy identification
